Information on FY 2014 Mineral Resources External Research Program

The USGS Mineral Resources External Research Program (MRERP) will not announce a request for proposals for Fiscal Year 2014. In FY13 the MRERP was suspended due to the Federal budget sequestration. Because sequestration occurred well into the fiscal year, FY13 MRERP proposals had already been solicited, received, and evaluated by the review panel by the time sequestration went into effect. If funding is available for the MRERP in FY14 the USGS will honor its commitment to consider the highest ranked proposals received in the FY13 solicitation.

Since its inception in FY 2004 the MRERP has awarded $2.8M through forty-eight grants to academia, industry, and State geological surveys. Information on supported research and past recipients can be found at For more information please contact
