Contrary Creek, Virginia

The Contrary Creek watershed contains a variety of abandoned base-metal massive sulfide mines and quartz-gold vein deposits.  To date, site-specific studies have concentrated on the Sulfur Mine.  

Contrary Creek at the Arminius Mine. Samples collected include stream sediments, precipitates and water. Stream pH at this location is 2.71.
