Eastern Mineral and Environmental Resources Science Center
The environmental behavior of modern-style mine wastes vary on the basis of deposit type and the identity of primary and secondary minerals present. For the most part, environmental data are lacking, and the ability to predict the behavior of complex mine wastes will depend upon knowledge of teh behavior of constituent phases.
The objective of this subtask is to develop a data base of environmnetal characteristics of modern-style mine wastes according to deposit type, including the characteristics of constiuent phases.
Work will continue investigating the characteristics and behavior of modern-style mine wastes and their constiuents.
